If double-duty is your décor theme, get your hands on some handcrafted pieces that’ll infuse your living space with refined style — without sacrificing function. Crafted and manufactured by Argentinean artisans and brought to you by Frank Campanale and Mariano Brener, co-owners of Diseño (409 Harrison Avenue, Boston, 617.423.2008), the leather- and cowhide-topped benches and wooden tables are made entirely of recycled materials: the pinotea wood was salvaged from 100-year-old factories in Buenos Aires and the leather from sewing machine fan belts. “They’re a bit rustic, yet refined enough to go into any contemporary setting,” says Campanale, who was initially drawn to the pieces by their rich, resin􀀐filled wood. Nothing wrong with being a benchwarmer now.
