Hot food, hold the allergic reaction: Gluten-free dining

We’re not exactly sure where this new trend came from, but we dig gluten-free dining. What the heck is gluten, you ask? It’s a protein that’s found in most pastas, breads, sauces, and processed foods, and it makes dining out close to impossible for the increasing number of people who are allergic to it. Thankfully, Boston is a culinary heaven where chefs and restaurateurs stay ahead of the trends, think outside the box, and offer fine-dining options for everyone. Let’s start where it counts the most: pasta. Scampo (Liberty Hotel, 215 Charles Street, Boston, 617.536.2100) and Via Matta (79 Park Plaza, Boston, 617.422.0088) both offer tasty gluten-free pasta options that are easily combined with any of their delicious sauces. Not feeling like Italian? Zocalo Cocina Mexicana (1414 Comm Ave, Brighton, 617.277.5700) offers an entire gluten-free menu, so you can order your enchilada and eat it, too. Other local spots with gluten-free options include B.
