THURSDAY, MAY 22
You’ve known it since you first heard Patti Smith and Debbie Harry: girls rock. Arbonne Cosmetics knows that, too, so the Swiss skincare company is putting its name behind Dark Women in Rock Night, which struts into Church (69 Kilmarnock Street, Boston, 617.236.7600) tonight. Yes, Arbonne products work their restorative magic thanks to proprietary (read: secret) blends of botanicals and herbs, but don’t expect this event to be a night of gentle spa music. Headliner Mankind Is Obsolete, fronted by the Elmohaired Natasha, who growls just as well as she can purr, weaves influences as disparate as Judas Priest and Portishead. They’ll share the stage with Boston’s Lucretia’s Daggers and Melt, both of which feature gals who sing moody lyrics to synthheavy melodies. Listen to shadowy, goth-kissed tunes and pick up some bright-smelling Arbonne samples. Doors open at 8 p.m. Get tickets ($7) at www.rockonconcerts.com.
