Mayflower power

No longer will Plymouth be known solely for that boring rock, so beloved by grade-school field-trip coordinators everywhere. The historic city now has an attraction that's more our speed: the Mayflower Brewing Company. Founder and president Drew Brosseau caught the craft-beer bug in high school, but it wasn't until after a stint in the business world that he decided to make it a career. After settling on the Mayflower concept (Brosseau's a descendant of John Alden, who made barrels for the historic ship's beer), he brought in Matthew Steinberg of Offshore Ale. Plans are in place to brew four styles year-round: Pale Ale and Golden Ale were recently released, and a Porter and IPA are expected in the coming months. The beer is on tap locally at Cambridge Common (1667 Mass Ave, Cambridge, 617.547.1228), Sunset Grill & Tap (130 Brighton Avenue, Allston, 617.254.1331), and Sunset Cantina (916 Comm Ave, Boston, 617.731.8646). Offerings are currently only available in keg form, but Brosseau hopes to be bottling by March.
