AS CO-OWNER of Back Bay's Boston Public, Nino Trotta is used to doling out attention to the A-listers who visit his dining room. Dressed to the nines (he hails from a long line of Italian designers), Trotta spends most evenings either welcoming guests at the front door or bouncing around the North End, where he has a waterfront apartment and starts and ends the night with an espresso.
@ 6:15 p.m.: I usually don't leave my house that early. I like to relax and watch documentaries until I'm ready to go.
@ 7:30 p.m.: My first stop is Caffè Paradiso in the North End. I order a triple espresso and visit with my friends. We'll talk about the day, politics, sports - whatever is going on.
@ 9:45 p.m.: I'll stop by Bricco for a cocktail. I usually drink a Negroni - they make a very good one there. Then I grab a bite to eat at the bar with a friend or with a larger group. We go across the street to Lucca, where my friend Matthew Williams is the owner, to have a couple drinks there.
@ midnight: After we do some bar-hopping in the North End, we head toward the South End. One of my favorite stops is the Beehive. Afterward, I like to stop at a Starbucks for a double espresso.
@ 2 a.m.: I usually end up at the Franklin Café on a Tuesday, or go to see my friend Igor Blatnik at Venu. Depends on the day. If it's another weeknight, I might stop at the South Street Diner or just head home and have friends over for a glass of wine.
