"Design Life Now: National Design Triennial" at the ICA

THROUGH SUNDAY, JANUARY 6, 2008
As we all know, the kind of art that's recognized at the ICA (100 Northern Avenue, Boston, 617.478.3100) is far more than just what's mounted in a gilded frame and hung on a wall for inspection. The museum's latest exhibition, "Design Life Now: National Design Triennial," showcases the best of the best from the past three years in such varied mediums as product design, architecture, furniture, fashion, science, and film. Featuring the work of more than 80 innovators - from designers you've never heard of to big-name brands such as Apple and Nike - the exhibit includes the iPod, couture gowns by Ralph Rucci, an underwater robot called the Robolobster, and textile designs by Lia Cook. Museum admission is $12 for adults, and free on Thursdays from 5 to 9 p.m.
