When the professionals take to the dance floor at the Stealing Fire Gala, which celebrates the 20th anniversary of cutting-edge contemporary troupe Prometheus Dance, we suggest the amateurs step aside or risk having their moves upstaged. (One of the perils of partying with the pros, we suppose.) The creative-black-tie event is held tonight at 7:30 p.m. at the Cambridge Multicultural Arts Center (41 Second Street, Cambridge, 617.577.1400), where Prometheus made its debut in 1987 and has performed almost every year since. There will be food, an open bar, and dancing (of course), along with a video retrospective, live music, and a trio of duets danced by Prometheus co-artistic directors Diane Arvanites-Noya and Tommy Neblett.
