Though our nights out tend toward drunken debauchery, we sometimes feel the need to socialize in a more civilized way. When that's the case, we head to Vinalia (101 Arch Street, Boston, 617.737.1777) for Wine & Cheese Wednesdays. The complimentary tasting, held weekly from 6 to 8 p.m., attracts both aficionados and after-work amateurs looking to sample from the restaurant's highly regarded wine list. Guests are greeted in Vinalia's lounge, where they'll find a reception table stacked with fresh fruit and gourmet cheeses, plus the week's selection of vino. The evening's wine connoisseur is also on hand to answer questions and talk shop. Then, at around 8 p.m., the event transitions seamlessly into Jazz & Art Night, also free of charge. A live jazz band completes the scene as a local artist shows his or her work, hung gallery-style, throughout the restaurant.
