Allston's about more than just dive bars, cheap eats, and BU rock stars: lately, the area has also been cultivating a bit of an anti-Newbury Street fashion scene. At the forefront is Re-Up (1 Brighton Avenue, Allston, 617.783.REUP), an urban lifestyle boutique that bills itself as one-stop shopping for college students, skater kids, urbanites, and hipster fashionistas alike. Stocked with apparel from Futura Laboratories, Recon, Staple Design, and more, Re-Up caters to every budget and features a number of lines not seen before on Boston shelves. And the space is as cool as its merchandise: divided in half by a retractable glass wall, the store is all white on one side (where the clothing is displayed) and all black on the other (with footwear coming soon; stock from Nike, Vans, and New Balance is planned). The sleek, lounge-y space is even equipped with a stage area, perfect for the open mikes, art events, and performances that the proprietors have planned.
