SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 30 & OCTOBER 7
Weekly parties tend to fade in and out of the city's consciousness with the speed of the latest fashion trend: one minute you're desperately schmoozing your way in, the next you're en route to the next big thing without a backward glance. But not so in the case of Utopia, which has been running intermittently, and in a number of area venues, for 15 years. The night launched in its latest manifestation, Utopia Sundays at An Tua Nua (835 Beacon Street, Boston, 617.262.2121), earlier this month. Host DJ Bruno focuses on deep, soulful house music, and guest DJs abound: October 7 features Joey Mazza from New Jersey; October 28, it's Grandmaster Flash. And on September 30 (and the last Sunday of every month), "Old School Groove" features House Head Pete and a mix of classic tracks. The night runs from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m.; there's a $5 cover charge, and ladies are free before 11 p.m. For more information, visit www.utopiaboston.com.
