"Walk This Way" at the Museum of Fine Arts

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 27 - SUNDAY, MARCH 23, 2008

We always thought our favorite sandals were destined for more than the dusty corner in the back of our closet. Now the style gurus at the Museum of Fine Arts (465 Huntington Avenue, Boston, 617.267.9300) have deemed some footwear worthy of a place in the new exhibition "Walk This Way." More than 20 shoes, displayed individually and in pairs, will be showcased alongside pieces from the museum's collection that relate historically, culturally, or artistically: the design on a pair of Vivienne Westwood heels echoes the pattern on an early-18th-century silk damask panel, for example, and an ancient leather sandal was probably worn around the time the Nubian Colossal statue of King Aspelta was created. Also on display are Daisuke Matsuzaka's cleats, shoes worn by Marilyn Monroe, and a brand-new pair of Miu Mius. General admission to the museum is $17 for adults.
