In case you haven't noticed, the Financial District isn't just home to office buildings and grab-and-go lunch spots, and it doesn't shut down when the closing bell sounds at 5 p.m. Lately we've been noticing lots of new activity on Broad Street and its surrounding area. In addition to still-young Vintage Lounge (72 Broad Street, Boston, 617.482.1900) and Revolution Rock Bar (200 High Street, Boston, 617.261.4200), there's cozy and elegant new hangout J.A. Stats (99 Broad Street, Boston, 617.357.8287), which, at press time, is scheduled to open in mid September. Owned by brothers Jim and Andrew Statires, it's a spot for young professionals to grab a bite, catch the game, and relax with a post-work cocktail. DJ nights and live entertainment are also in the works. On the same strip, South End favorite BRIX Wine Shop (105 Broad Street, Boston, 617.542.BRIX) is opening its second outpost in early October. Along with a private tasting room and a catering kitchen, the shop also has plans for "Thirsty Thursday" drop-in tastings that will surely win over the area's parched young professionals.
