Hot Meat: New Steakhouses

Forget veggie burgers and tofu: meat is hot in Boston, and in a big way. KO Prime (Nine Zero Hotel, 90 Tremont Street, Boston, 617.772.0202), which opened in the spring, stars carnivores Ken Oringer (consulting chef) and Jamie Bissonette (chef de cuisine) and boasts a menu that includes a 10-ounce Kobe flatiron ($38) and a Japanese Wagyu beef NY strip ($30/ounce). Pino Maffeo recently turned Restaurant L into Boston Public (Louis Boston, 234 Berkeley Street, Boston, 617.266.4680), applying his signature Asian-influenced style to a protein-heavy menu. Over at the XV Beacon Hotel, Mooo... (15 Beacon Street, Boston, 617.670.2515) recently opened its doors in the former home of the Federalist. The restaurant retains David Hutton as executive chef, but has revamped both its space and its menu into an upscale, modern steakhouse. And a bit father afield, Prime 128, a new Aquitaine Group steakhouse, opens in Newton later this fall.
