Hot Man with the Bands: Brian Viglione

When we caught up with Brian Viglione in June, he and Amanda Palmer (together, better known as the Dresden Dolls) had just played Radio City Music Hall. Earlier this summer, the Boston-based duo was part of the True Colors Tour, featuring Cyndi Lauper, Debbie Harry, and Erasure, among others. And before the Dresden Dolls hit the road with True Colors, they were on yet another tour, that one landing them in the legendary Roundhouse in London and various venues in Australia and the US. Then, after wrapping up their five-week stint at the American Repertory Theatre, performing/showcasing their compositions in The Onion Cellar, they took a six-month break. But percussionist Viglione kept a steady beat throughout his hiatus, recording Fighting Naked with fellow Bostonians HUMANWINE, then hitting the road with them. When Viglione was in town, he was busy with drum clinics in Roxbury and Portsmouth, New Hampshire, and showing Harvard students how to keep their rhythm as part of the university's Learning from Performers program. In February and March, he was a resident drummer at the Enormous Room with the Gil Aharon Jazz Trio. They toured New England this past month. Whew. We're tired just reading about it all.
