Hot Hidden Talent: Cocktails at Douzo

Sure, the kitchen is known for its prowess with anything raw and chopstick-ready, but the best-kept secret at sushi hotspot Douzo (131 Dartmouth Street, Boston, 617.859.8886) is its unique, exotic cocktail menu. Our personal favorites are the just-sweet-enough lychee martini ($10) and the Gingertini ($10), which is ideal for soothing our stomachs post-feast. Winner for best presentation is the Golden Saketini ($12), garnished with gold flakes; for originality, it has to be the Choya Mimosa ($10), a blend of plum wine and prosecco. The Tokyo cosmo ($10) is an inventive mix of mandarin-blossom vodka, sake, triple sec, and cranberry and lime juices, while the Asian pear martini ($10) and the Shochu Melon ($10) are ideal on warm, summery nights. And of course, since we are in Boston, there's always the Matsu-sake ($10), served with a caramelized sugar rim. Tried 'em all? A fall update is coming soon.
