Hot Flash: Hydrafacial at MELT

We schedule regular facials to keep our skin looking its best. At least that's what we tell the men in our lives when they question the charges adding up on our AmEx account. But though we do love the flawless complexion that comes from a professional cleansing, we also can't get enough of the side benefits: shoulder and neck massage, strangely relaxing New Age music, and an hour to escape from the worries of the world. So when we heard that Newbury Street's newest addition, MELT (172 Newbury Street, Boston, 617.262.1116), was touting a 30-minute Hydrafacial for $200, we simply scoffed - until we tried it. Sure, the cost per minute on this service is sky-high compared with other treatments, but the results can't be beat. And if you're short on time, this may be just what you need. Exclusive to MELT, the Hydrafacial employs a high-tech machine to give skin a deep cleanse and exfoliation. Hell, this fancy contraption can even do extractions without leaving the tell-tale signs. Though you'll receive none of the typical pampering, you will be on your way in under half an hour looking like you spent half the day to get this glow. Does it replace our monthly spa downtime? Nope, it's not intended to. But it does offer busy women around the city a chance to look their best without sacrificing so much time. Perfect - more hours to shop.
