We love that Envi (164 Newbury Street, Boston, 617.267.3684), Boston's newest eco-chic boutique, doesn't sacrifice style for earth-friendliness. No awkward cuts or scratchy fabrics here; instead, brands like Del Forte, Panda Snack, and Perfectly Imperfect create hip, attractive pieces that just happen to be made from materials like organic wool and cotton, soy, and hemp. Price points are comparable to (and, in many cases, probably a bit less than) other Back Bay boutiques, and much of the apparel here is both socially conscious and sweatshop-free. And co-owners Callie Smith and Ursula Stahl don't stop with the clothes: Envi also features recycled hangers, eco-conscious wallpaper and paint, bamboo floors, and e-mail (not paper) receipts. Take things even further: save on gas and shop online at www.shopenvi.com. Also worth checking out is Porter Square newbie Greenward (1776 Mass Ave, Cambridge, 617.395.1338), where you'll find everything from all-natural cleaning products to Reiter8 bags made from recycled sailcloth to cards printed on "tree-free" paper.
