Not that we needed another reason to pay a visit to Troquet (that cheese cart is enough, thank you very much), but now we have one. The restaurant recently opened Le Patissier on the lower level of its Theater District space. Sarah Woodfine, formerly of Maine’s famed White Barn Inn, runs the show at the new desserterie, where the opening menu includes chevre cheesecake, blackberry-almond tart, pistachio-crusted beignets, and milk-chocolate mille feuille, served Tuesday through Saturday from 5 to 11 p.m.
What’s better than free bar snacks? How about a complimentary antipasto bar, featuring cured meats, olives, and house-marinated vegetables? That’s what you’ll find at Sage in the South End on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Beats standing over the kitchen sink eating chips and salsa, doesn’t it?
Our home BBQs are never going to be as good as the ones Andy Husbands throws, so we might as well put away the propane and head to Tremont 647 on July 21. From 6 to 9 p.m., the fifth-annual Grilling Social features Husbands and special guests John Delpha (La Campagnia) and Chris Coombs (dbar) manning the grills and Harpoon Brewery supplying the locally brewed draft beers. The cost is $40 ($35 for Friends of Harpoon), which includes food, tax, gratuity, and two drink tickets per guest. Call 617.266.4600 for reservations and information.
