Nix tonight’s dinner plans and instead head to the Financial District for an evening of small plates — and a good cause. Dine at Night for Those Who Fight, a charity event supporting the Boston Firefighter Death Benefit and Welfare Fund, will feature a silent auction, live music, and, of course, food, from restaurants including Union, Aquitaine, and Petit Robert Bistro. Tickets are $50 for the general public and $25 for firefighters, and all proceeds will benefit the families of fallen firefighters. The event takes place tonight from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Boston Hilton Financial District (89 Broad Street, Boston, 617.556.0006). For tickets, visit www.freewebs.com/bostonfirefighterevent718, or e-mail bostonfirefighterevent718@gmail.com.
two’s a charm
One local Nordstrom (Natick Collection, 290 Speen Street, Natick, 508.318.2600)? Terrific. But two? That’s almost more than we’d dare hope for. Straight out of our wildest dreams, Massachusetts’s second Nordstrom (Burlington Mall, 75 Middlesex Turnpike, Burlington, 781.345.7800) is set to open a hop, skip, and jump from town. The new store features 138,000 square feet on two floors, making it pure shopping bliss: four shoe departments, an expanse of cosmetics counters, and a lovingly chosen selection of high-end garments by designers including Diane von Furstenberg, Nanette Lepore, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Tracy Reese, BCBG, and Hugo Boss. The location is also home to espresso bar Ebar and a restaurant called Blue Stove. The store officially opens tomorrow at 10 a.m., but we suggest you swing by early for the Opening Day Beauty Bash, held from 8:30 to 10 a.m. A team of Nordstrom beauty advisors will be on hand, sharing the scoop on new products and beauty trends, and offering complimentary consultations and demonstrations.
