Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is

On September 20, a fire destroyed a popular farmstand in Concord. What does that mean to us cityfolk? For starters, the Verrill Farmstand was beloved by -- and a source of produce for -- many Boston restaurants. Now comes word that one of them, the Beacon Hill Bistro, is giving back to Verrill. On October 13, the restaurant is holding an Autumn Harvest Dinner, from which a percentage of proceeds will benefit the Verrill Farmstand Fund. Feast on dishes including roasted buttercup squash soup, orange-and-white-carrot pudding, and eggplant gratine while taking pride in the fact that you're not just pigging out to satiate your own needs; this is philanthropy.

Seatings are at 6 and 8:30 p.m.; the dinner is $60 per person, or $85 with wine pairings. Call 617.723.7575 for reservations.
