Anish Kapoor: "Past, Present, Future”
by webteam, 05-19-2008

FRIDAY, MAY 30 – SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 7
If Frank Gehry were to design the world’s greatest modernist funhouse, he would definitely enlist Anish Kapoor to create the landscape sculptures and interior furnishings. The India-born, London-based sculptor, who scored the prestigious Turner Prize, specializes in massive, mesmerizing sculptures and installations with sublime curves and bold use of common materials. He’s a wizard at playing mind games with you, dear viewer, and pushing you to reevaluate your relationship with space. One of his latest works is the stainless-steel, kidney-bean-shaped Cloud Gate in Chicago’s Millennium Park. Now the Institute of Contemporary Art (100 Northern Avenue, Boston, 617.478.3100) presents “Anish Kapoor: Past, Present, Future,” the first American museum survey of his work in 15 years, which features sculptures never seen stateside. Admission to the ICA is$12 ($10 for students).
