Hassle-free hair

by Heather Bouzan, 03-24-2008

As everyone knows, Newbury Street is a salon mecca. But when it comes to where to put our wheels during our cut and color, our parking karma is perpetually off. Enter the Anthony Capalino Salon (5 Middlesex Avenue, Somerville, 617.625.2887), which recently opened in Assembly Square. Housed in an office building’s swank new Planet Fitness, the salon has a super-modern feel that can hardly be mistaken for suburban. Capalino, who’s worked in Back Bay for more than 12 years, still cuts at Runway Salon (11 Newbury Street, Boston, 617.375.0002), but the aim of his new venture is to offer clients the Newbury Street experience without the parking hassles. Cuts range from $50 to $75; Capalino and his three stylists also offer color, highlights, relaxing, and extensions, plus facial waxing.
