Zox at Harpers Ferry

by Heather Bouzan, 02-25-2008

FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 29
Rock stars are often forced to make sacrifices, whether it's choosing the band over the girl, the band over the sensible haircut, or in Zox frontman Eli Miller's case, the band over Stanford Law. Yup, these are smart boys: the Brown University alums (plus a non-Brown bandmember) manage to write meaningful lyrics on top of pop melodies. The mtvU sensations take the stage tonight at Harpers Ferry (158 Brighton Avenue, Allston, 617.254.9743), playing their signature violin-infused ballads off their brand-spanking-new album, Line in the Sand. These guys know how to make a room full of trendy hipster girls get a little freaky, and they make being freakishly intelligent the new requirement for future rock stars. Doors open at 8 p.m.; for general-admission tickets ($12), visit www.harpersferryboston.com or call 800.594.TIXX.
