Premature Mondays at O’Brien’s Pub

MONDAY, MARCH 3 & 10
The dearth of nighttime options on the first day of our workweek often leaves us drowning our sorrows in cheap pints at cheesy dives. Enter Premature Mondays at O'Brien's Pub (3 Harvard Avenue, Allston, 617.782.6245), a weekly music series designed, according to its organizers, to "take the mundane out of Mondays." Created to turn the spotlight on quality local music (approximately 98 percent of series acts have roots in New England), Premature Mondays ranges in genre from week to week. Doors open at 8:30 p.m., and the first band takes the stage at around 9:15 p.m. On March 3, the roster includes the Kieran Ridge Band, the Brooklyns, Hard Times, and the Jethros; on March 10, it's Thunderhog, Watchfire (formerly Harder the Fight), and Hannaford & the Heartstoppers. Admission is a buck a band; visit www.myspace.com/prematuremondays for more information.
