It's no hipster dive bar, that's for sure. Privé (165 Brighton Avenue, Allston, 617.78.PRIVE), scheduled to open by the end of the month, is quite the departure for owner Jerry Quinn, the man behind neighboring collegiate hangout the Kells (161 Brighton Avenue, Allston, 617.782.9082). The name of the super-chic restaurant/lounge means "private" in French. (Secluded banquettes are ideal for those craving a little solitude.) The kitchen is staffed by chefs from Ginza and the menu is Japanese (including a sushi bar) with international accents - think Spanish, French, and South American. Plans are also in place to entice late-night revelers with DJed lounge music. Perhaps cosmopolitan undergrads will no longer need to cab it downtown in search of an upscale evening.
