Booze-it-yourself

by Heather Bouzan, 01-28-2008

We've always enjoyed experimenting with cocktail-making from the comfort of our home bar, but we often lack ingredients diverse enough for any real innovation. So lately we've been playing mixologist with the private table-bar service offered for groups of two, four, and six at the Metropolitan Club (1210 Boylston Street, Chestnut Hill, 617.731.0600). Stocked with premium alcohols and house-made mixers, the spreads are available at brunch and dinner. The Breakfast Martini service ($60 to $180, depending on the number of guests) includes Grey Goose vodka, fruit punch, orange vermouth, simple syrup, and flavored sugar rimmers, while the Bloody Mary service ($75 to $195) is offered with a choice of Grey Goose Vodka, Patron Silver Tequila, and sake, plus fresh horseradish, olives, and pickled vegetables. Meanwhile, Dinner Martinis ($80 to $240) are served with a spread of Grey Goose vodka or Tanqueray 10 gin, Lillet, bitters, blood-orange juice, Cointreau, and flavored simple syrups. Champagne Cocktail service ($135 to $250 for two) is also available for morning diners, and Champagne service ($135 to $250) is offered during dinner hours.
