TUESDAY, JANUARY 8
A darkened room, soul-stirring crescendos, bare shoulders, and power suits: under the right circumstances, a visit to the symphony could be very, very sexy. And no one will shush you for trying to get someone's number during the Repartee Series from the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Held especially for 20- and 30-somethings, the monthly event begins with a pre-show cocktail hour at 7 p.m. Orchestra members and special guests comment on the upcoming program, and you get to pick who you'll try to sit next to when the show begins at 8. This month, Spanish conductor Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos presents music by Strauss and Mussorgsky. Tickets ($37) are available at www.bso.org, at 888.266.1200, or in person at Symphony Hall (301 Mass Ave, Boston, 888.266.1492).
