Hubbub

By George

We'd never accuse William George of going all suburban on us - he's far too stylish and sophisticated for that. But the man at the helm of the James Joseph hair empire has broadened his horizons beyond Back Bay, opening his third salon, the second James Joseph Studio (16 Earhart Landing, Medford, 781.393.6800), at Station Landing. Most of the staff trained on Newbury Street, and many of the stylists at the new location also work at the flagship James Joseph Salon (30 Newbury Street, Boston, 617.266.7222) or Studio (168 Newbury Street, Boston, 617.266.6600). Designed by Darlow Christ Architects, who also did swank sushi joint Douzo, the space avoids the standard-issue black-and-chrome salon look, opting instead for a lighter, airier feel. Key features include two color bars, Wi-Fi and power outlets for laptops, and chairs imported from Italy. That cuts start at a mere $40 is icing on the cake. George hopes to launch his product line by spring, and he's already scouting locations for his third James Joseph Studio.
