Sopranos and style

Opera and fashion: they're an unlikely pair. So are OperaHub and nightlife impresarios East Coast Clubs - but that didn't stop them from teaming up to create Changing Modes: An Opera Fashion Show. The show, which takes place on October 12 at Saint (90 Exeter Street, Boston, 617.236.1134), features staged selections of classic works like La Bohème and The Magic Flute interspersed with models strutting the catwalk in pieces by local designers including Edward Phillips, Samuel Mendoza, and Melissa Iarrobino. Back Bay's Beauty Rules (274 Newbury Street, Boston, 617.262.0338) provides hairstyling and makeup, while the runway soundtrack, remixed by Michael Hensley, features recordings of OperaHub singers with a contemporary spin. Tickets are $20 in advance - get them at www.operahub.org - and $25 at the door. The first cocktails are poured at 7:30 p.m. and the show starts at 8:30; feel free to stick around and party with the models (or the singers, depending on your preference) when DJ GSquared and DJ Tanno take over the lounge
at 10 p.m.
