Latin Music Thursdays at the Fireplace

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 13 & 20
Sometimes, we get sick of hopping from restaurant to bar. We want a place that has it all, where we can enjoy a good meal and then linger for hours afterwards. Good news: Latin Music Thursdays at the Fireplace (1634 Beacon Street, Brookline, 617.975.1900) allow you to have your mojito and slowly enjoy it, too. The restaurant serves dinner until 11 p.m.; after you eat, lounge at one of the copper-top tables near the bar and catch a show by the Latin musicians who perform starting at 9:30. Some dance, some don't, but almost everyone comes to the often-crowded bar area to at least listen to the Spanish beats. On August 13, Alejandro Simas is scheduled to perform; on the 20th, the Cuban Jazz Project headlines. And when the band packs up at midnight, you don't have to: the bar is open for another hour, just in case you want to sip another glass of sangria. There's no cover charge; for table reservations, visit www.opentable.com.
