Ever since Bomboa closed, we've been anxiously awaiting an announcement from the innovative minds behind the neighboring 33 Restaurant & Lounge, who took over the space, about what the new concept would be. Now we know: STIX Restaurant & Lounge (35 Stanhope Street, Boston, 617.EAT.STIX) is set to open in early September. The menu, which will be served until 1 a.m., is built around six types of flavor-infused "stix" (skewer) options, including Thai coconut lime, citrus rosemary, and garlic herb. Diners choose what to stack them with, shish-kabob-style; tapas-style dining (i.e., lots of sharing) is highly encouraged. The space itself has been completely gutted and done up in leather and stainless steel for a lounge-y feel; expect to see everyone from neighborhood diners to post-work revelers to suburban visitors clamoring for a table.
